Ingredients

For the patties
  • 1.5 lb ground chicken
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce divided
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
For the gravy
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cup chicken broth

Method

  1. Mix the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, egg, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Shape into 4 to 6 oval patties.
  2. Sear the patties in a skillet over medium-high heat for 4 to 5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt the butter and cook the mushrooms and onion until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the flour and cook 1 minute, then whisk in the broth and remaining Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until thickened.
  5. Return the patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, and simmer 8 to 10 minutes until cooked through.

Notes

Ground chicken is leaner than beef, so avoid overcooking the patties or they can dry out. Chicken broth keeps the gravy lighter than a beef-based version.
