- Brown the ground beef with the diced onion and garlic over medium-high heat until no longer pink and it reaches 160 degrees F. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the sliced mushrooms and cook 3 to 4 minutes until softened.
- Add paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire-style sauce, salt, and pepper; stir 1 minute.
- Pour in the beef broth and milk and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in the egg noodles.
- Cover and simmer 12 to 15 minutes, stirring often, until the noodles are tender and the sauce has thickened.
- Reduce the heat to low and stir in the sour cream until the sauce is creamy. Serve hot.
Notes
For a cream of mushroom soup version, replace the broth and milk with a can of cream of mushroom soup plus 1 cup of water. For potato stroganoff, swap the egg noodles for diced potatoes and simmer until tender.
